AWF Labor Fact of the Week: Card Check & Binding Arbitration Will Destroy Jobs
The Alliance for Worker Freedom Continues Campaign Against Card Check
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Alliance for Worker Freedom continues to oppose all efforts to abolish the secret ballot and impose job-killing binding arbitration on American business. A recent study by Dr. Anne Layne-Farrar, LECG Consulting, has determined that card check will result in a one percentage point increase in the unemployment rate for every three percentage point increase in workers organized.
Fact: A 10 Percentage Point Increase In Unionized Labor Under Card Check & Binding Arbitration Will Cost 5.4 Million Jobs; Unemployment Will Skyrocket to Over 13 percent
“With an unemployment rate already at near double-digits, introducing job-killing card-check will be an unmitigated economic disaster,” said Brian Johnson, Executive Director of the Alliance for Worker Freedom. “It’s not worth destroying the American Economy and putting millions out of work just so President Obama and Congress pay back Big Labor for their 2008 election support”
