Indiana: Non-Union Employees to Receive Same Raise as Teachers
Fort Wayne Community Schools administrators and non-union employees will receive the same salary increases as teachers: 4 percent this year and 2 percent next year.
The school board approved the pay raises at its meeting Monday night and also approved the two-year teacher contract. Members of the Fort Wayne Education Association, the local teachers union, overwhelmingly approved the contract at the end of August.
The new contract includes adding three paid days for teachers to receive professional development; paying teachers who plan to retire 2 percent of their base salary in their retirement account if they notify the district by Feb. 1; paying kindergarten teachers an extra day to work with parents before school starts; adding 30 minutes collaboration time each week for middle and high school teachers; and establishing committees to review stipends for extra duties and the future of the English as a second language program.
